Using Tech Dragon Mail Conduit with Your Existing SMTP or Mail-Delivery Plugin

Product Knowledgebase View Plugin

Tech Dragon Mail Conduit is designed to use the mail-delivery stack you already chose. It does not replace or configure that downstream system for you.

Start with a working downstream mailer

Before enabling Tech Dragon Mail Conduit, your WordPress mail-delivery or SMTP plugin should already be able to send ordinary WordPress mail successfully through wp_mail().

  • Configure SMTP/API/provider credentials in the downstream mail plugin—not in Tech Dragon Mail Conduit.
  • Complete any DNS authentication required by your provider.
  • Use the downstream plugin's own test-mail feature, if available, to confirm its transport works independently.
  • Resolve provider or authentication errors before treating Tech Dragon Mail Conduit as the next troubleshooting layer.

What Tech Dragon Mail Conduit adds

Once the downstream WordPress mail path is healthy, Tech Dragon Mail Conduit gives supported MailPoet messages a controlled route into that same path.

Tech Dragon Mail Conduit does not need your SMTP password or provider API key because those remain the responsibility of the downstream mail plugin.

Recommended setup order

  1. Install and configure the downstream SMTP/mail-delivery plugin.
  2. Verify ordinary WordPress mail can be transported successfully.
  3. Install and activate MailPoet.
  4. Install and activate Tech Dragon Mail Conduit.
  5. Confirm Tech Dragon Mail Conduit's bridge status.
  6. Send a controlled MailPoet test and verify the downstream mailer receives the handoff.

Do not duplicate transport configuration

A common source of confusion is trying to configure SMTP in more than one place. Tech Dragon Mail Conduit's purpose is the opposite: MailPoet stays the MailPoet layer, Tech Dragon Mail Conduit performs the bridge, and the existing mail-delivery plugin remains the transport layer.

If mail still does not arrive

First determine whether the message reached wp_mail(). If it did, continue troubleshooting in the downstream plugin/provider. If it did not, use Tech Dragon Mail Conduit's operational state or Pro diagnostics to investigate the bridge. See Troubleshooting Tech Dragon Mail Conduit.
